Telly viewers were taxed by the Inland Revenue commercial, named the most irritating advert. The ad showed Father Ted's housekeeper Mrs Doyle urging people to fill in their tax returns by repeating her catchphrase “go on, go on, go on”. Voted the most irritating ad of 2001 in a survey in Marketing magazine, and although the Mrs Doyle campaign was widely regarded as annoying, the number of self-assessment forms returned on time did increase , for the first time in five years.
